WOMEN AIDING WOMEN PROGRAM (WAW)
funded by The City of Toronto

The Woman Aiding Woman program, funded by the City of Toronto is available from 2001 but even before that, the Society had been working for the welfare of the Immigrant women. The name of the program (WAW) was available here and the same name was used for the funding when it became available later.

The main goal of the Women Aiding Women Program is to help the Tamil women integrate better and easier into the Canadian society. The goal is achieved by mainly conducting interactive workshops and seminars that provide education, information, moral support and ways to effectively get them connected to various community resources based on their needs. The workshops are conducted by the program coordinator and by presenters who are trained on specific field. To facilitate easy accessibility the workshops are conducted not only in the main branch but also at the other satellite locations of TESOC and at Community centers.

The workshops act as a great meeting place to get to know women from the different parts of the Greater Toronto Area. The program targets the isolated and shy women to come out ant become active participants in the workshop. The program also paves the way to do networking and build a support system that the women could rely on for moral support and advice.

Women who are affected by any sort of violence or with any other personal problems can always talk to the program coordinator on a 1:1 basis with prior appointments. All discussions with the program coordinator are strictly confidential.

Though the program is designed to cater the needs of the Tamil women other women from different communities can also attend our workshops or seek advice to any of their needs.
